In the latest Eastern North Carolina Home Sales Index, pending sales, a key indicator of sales that will take place over the next 30-45 days, rose significantly for the third consecutive month following two months of sharply falling pending sales.  The number of pending sales at the beginning of April was 1,996 as compared to the beginning of March, which was at 1,689.  This represents an 18.2% increase over the previous month.  This marks the third consecutive month with an increase in pending sales of at least 18% since pending sales fell to 1,189 in January.

For the second consecutive month, each of the eleven markets included in the ENCHSI saw pending sales rise.  The range from county to county was from an increase of less than 5% in Nash County to an increase of 36.7% in the Northeastern counties.

The Eastern North Carolina Home Sales Index includes the following counties:  Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Lenoir, Nash, the Northeastern Counties, (Camden, Chowan, Pasquotank, and Perquimans) Onslow, the Outer Banks, (Dare and Currituck) Pitt, Wayne, and Wilson.
